Some of us are able to go into local schools to engage with the pupils in different ways. These can include taking assemblies, helping the pupils recognise and celebrate times like Christmas, Easter and other special events. Some might assist with simple in-school activities with the pupils like cooking or gardening. We currently do this in Lubbesthorpe Primary School, Danemill Primary, and Brockington College.
This is a form of 'Community Chaplaincy': followers of Jesus who feel they have a calling into our schools are sharing the love of Jesus through story, activity and play.
Moved into your new home? We love to offer the chance for us to visit for a house blessing.
What’s happens? A small group of us will visit your home and through prayer seek God’s blessings for you and all who enter your home. You are welcome to invite family, friends and maybe new neighbours to join, and perhaps enjoy some food or a cuppa together afterwards.
We’ll happily fit in with what works for you, we’re here to help you in settling into your new surroundings and to offer prayers of blessing for this exciting phase of your life.
We believe everyone can play a positive role according to their time, gifting and ability. There are many ways this happens in practice. For example some actively volunteer and lead in Lubbesthorpe Alive groups, such as the mid-week groups with young children, the Drop-ins and groups for connecting & friendship, or the Community Café. Some simply organise a walk with neighbours or friends who live nearby, while others open their homes to those needing help, friendship, or people who want to explore faith in Jesus for themselves.
Whether it is simply helping out, coming alongside people, or helping to lead these activities ... these are all forms of community ministry. We want to encourage each person to grow in their own roles, and be part of helping the local community flourish.
Marking the Christmas season with an emerging nativity scene outside The Hub - adding characters and posters that help tell the Christmas story week by week through December. A simple way of making the Christmas story accessible to people who might pass by!
We continue to seek God for His leading, discovering where the Spirit is at work. This may lead to fresh ideas that none of us has thought of before! It may be for a new initiative or form of 'Community Chaplaincy'. Our desire is to help discern, enable and support - helping where possible people to grow into their calling and gifting in the direction God may be taking them.
